Your Appointment

What happens during your appointments?

The answer varies depending on your current health and goals.

Generally appointments for chronic health problems look like this:

 First Appointment

  • Your first appointment will be 45-60 minutes long.
  • Usually paid for by insurance. If not, $160 paid at time of the visit (does not include testing or supplements).
  • Review of your health and nutritional history, especially your primary health concerns (e.g. diabetes, blood pressure, fatigue, allergies, weight).
  • Physical exam including the measurement of health biomarkers. These biomarkers (weight; percentage of fat, muscle, water; and abdominal fat) are strong predictors of overall health, longevity, and susceptibility to cancer, diabetes, stroke and heart disease.
  • Discussion of your current health and goals.
  • An initial Treatment Plan will be developed. This often includes nutritional prescriptions and homework for gathering more information such as blood tests, pH, digestive, stress, and inflammatory markers.

 Second Appointment

  • About one week following the first appointment. 30-60 minutes.
  • Usually paid by insurance. If not, $42-140 depending on time and complexity.
  • Review of homework such as laboratory testing, digestive and inflammatory markers, current diet, medications, and supplements.
  • Discussion of your current diet and strategies for improvement.
  • Discussion of toxins/detoxification and their role in disease/health.
  • Treatment Plan: Often includes more information gathering such as measuring oxidative stress (free radicals), digestive function (even patients without overt digestive distress may have poor digestion which contributes to their ill health), with diet and supplement suggestions.

 Third Appointment

  • Often one to two weeks following the second appointment. 30-60 minutes
  • Usually paid by insurance. If not, $42-140 depending on time and complexity.
  • Review of information from previous appointments: History, physical exam, laboratory, and home testing.
  • Naturopathic Assessment of current condition. This is not just a description of your signs and symptoms (“your blood pressure is high”, etc), but why you’re not feeling well and the relationship of various symptoms (e.g. fatigue, dry skin, insomnia, allergies, depression) to one another.
  • Treatment Plan: Since toxins and nutritional deficiencies are major triggers of chronic disease, the treatment plan will emphasize cell detoxification and nutritional rejuvenation. Detoxification and rejuvenation supplements, nutrition suggestions, and other lifestyle factors will be part of the plan. Our goal is to develop a plan together with you which is obtainable and sustainable given your life circumstances.

 Fourth Appointment

  • Usually three weeks after the third appointment for 30-60 minutes.
  • Usually paid by insurance. If not, $42-140 depending on time and complexity.
  • Review results of previous treatment plan: changes in your energy, symptoms, biomarkers, and toxic markers, etc.
  • Review monitoring of inflammation, pH, oxidative stress, etc.
  • Revised treatment plan depends on results and goals. If improvement, minor adjustments of treatment. If little or no improvement, then further testing, change in strategy is advised. At Pure Wellness we believe that chronic illness is not a curse, it doesn’t “just happen”, there is a reason and we’re dedicated to finding the cause of your health problems. Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes it takes months, but we’re here for you.

 Additional Appointments

  • From one month to one year after the fourth appointment depending on the number and severity of heath conditions and your response to treatment.
  • Yearly physicals and wellness exams are available as well.

 Acute and Urgent Conditions

  • We also offer brief appointments for acute conditions such as colds, flus, sinusitis, bronchitis, sore throats, earaches, and accidents.
  • These will usually be paid for by insurance. The cash price for these is $30 (not including strep screen, nebulizer, and supplements).
  • We encourage you to take care of ill health as soon as possible because health statistics show that early intervention reduces long-term illness, hospital stays, and costs.
